UNDER SEIGE!!

As I write this my family is under attack. The house is quiet, no one is stirring. Our enemy is invisible but his tell-tale signature is there- high fevers, headaches, stomachaches, listlessness. We have been invaded by the flu bug.

Usually we do not get sick. Since we don't attend public school, we miss out on all those germs, but this year the story is different. Because we are now gluten-free, we are missing out on the nutrients gotten from only eating gluten. I have been taking a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement, but the kids refuse to take the gluten-free chewable vitamins. They smell really good, like black cherries. But I guess smell isn't everything.

My dh is in bed, had me call in to work for him. He has headache and fever, and selective appetite. My oldest son is hacking and feverish, the flu has (for now) skipped my next two children, and then Erianna, my Celiac-diabetic, has been hit the worst. Two weeks ago she was sick, laying around, no appetite, feverish, she was better for almost a week, and now is back in that same boat. When you have two auto-immune diseases, it's hard to keep your immune system up where it should be. Yesterday she hadn't eaten anything all day, finally last night I had to say, "eat something or we are going to the hospital." There have been 2 cases of bacterial menengitis in town and I am on heightened security due to that. They say you are dead within 24 hours of the symptoms beginnning. My next son is fine for now, and my youngest is starting to get better after having a headache, fever, and some vomiting. As for me, I am just trying to cope with a headache. I cannot go down, I am needed too much.

On another topic, I have been convicted to quit reading book after book and focus on the Bible. I read my 3 chapters a day, but don't really remember what they said at the end of the day. Plus, I am horrible about memorizing Scripture. So that's what I want and need to do. Will you hold me to it? I will talk more on this later. How are you doing at Bible study and memorization? We can't know what God's will is if we don't read His training manual. If you have no desire to read His word, if you are doing it because a "good Christian" does, pray for Him to give you a desire for His Word. He will!

Our joyful tip for today is: I am joyful as I concentrate on being a human being and not a human doing. God wants you to BE grounded in Him before you DO things for Him.

Keep your chin up!

Love,
Jenn
