Well, I survived winter storm 2007! We knew it was coming Saturday night. Woke up Sunday morning, icy, yes, but all we had were limbs down. As the day progressed, though, big limbs kept falling, and falling, and falling. Even half of a large tree fell, blocking the driveway. So we were outside, my dh (dear hubby) was sawing the tree and we were moving the logs, when CRACK CRACK CRACK one by one, five electric poles cracked down around us, surrounding us with downed power lines and wires.
Shortly after, a man from the electric company came out and told us we would be moved to #1 priority as we had a transformer on one of the poles that knocked power out to everyone, us and everyone around us. So back to work we went, when all of a sudden, my dh is moving us out of the way as icy limbs crashed down right where we had been standing.
Time to bail ship, we were picked up by my dh's dad and went to their house to stay, as the only people we knew who still had power. Until the next morning, then they too lost power and we all were in the same boat. So back home we went, with groceries that could be used without cooking or refrigerating.
And that is how we have lived for the last five days. But my dear, dear hubby stood in line at 5 am Tuesday morning for a generator, so that improved our lives so much. We had a microwave, refrigerator, television, and heat.
Finally today, our power came back on, after everyone else surrounding us for 15 miles had theirs. We were the last house! But we have it now, so that is all that matters. Below are some pictures for your enjoyment.
TTFN,
Jenn
